And the award for best dressed goes to…
… Well, there wasn’t an actual award for best dressed, but if there was, we’d have been hard-pressed to decide between the army of fabulous frocks on the red carpet at 2010’s Oscars awards ceremony. As always, glamour reigned supreme but there were flashes of trends coming through, too. Nudes seemed to sweep the board with Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Demi Moore all wearing gowns in this season’s hottest shade.
To steal their style, try this Saint Tropez dress, £50. It’s a great way to work Hollywood nude-toned glamour without looking OTT.
For more neutral and nude hues, our Nudes collection is packed with inspiration for ways to wear these shades and steal that red carpet style. Another trend we’ll definitely be trying this spring is graphic print. We love the way Maggie Gyllenhaal stood out from the crowd in her bold print bright blue maxi dress:
Steal her style with this Firetrap Maxi dress, £70:
Feminine ruffles are still huge for SS10 and it was great to see this trend get the A-List treatment – taking any look to the red carpet instantly means exaggerated details, pumped up glamour and full on fabulousness! George Clooney’s co-star of ‘Up in the Air’ – Vera Farmiga – wore an amazing ruffled dress:
This ruffled dress, £28, is a perfect way to tone down Vera’s look and make it wearable:
If only we’d had an invite to the Oscars (maybe next year… we wish!) we’d have definitely worn one of the new Forever Unique dresses that have just arrived on Oli.co.uk today. These gowns (and they really do need to be described as gowns, they’re so amazing!) are perfect for when you need that extra-special boost of glamour. Forever Unique is a brand that’s a favourite of celebrities and with stunning maxis, amazing embellishment and luxurious silk, it’s easy to see why.
There were so many amazing dresses on the red carpet that it was hard to choose our favourites! Who won your best dressed award? Tell us on Twitter: @Oli_Blog or on Facebook.

Trend alert!
This spring, the catwalks have gone absolutely dotty! Don’t worry, we don’t mean the creations on them were even crazier than usual… No, SS10 saw everything from cute tulip dresses to clutch bags adorned with polka dots. Luella’s SS10 collection lead the way with this look and spots dotted their way through many other collections too.
Never one to miss out on a trend, Fearne Cotton has been, ahem, spotted (sorry, couldn’t resist that) sporting the latest prints as she’s out and about in London:

We know that you fashion-forward Oli dollies won’t be able to wait to get your hands on a few dotty delights of your own, so take a look at these:
Team your polka dot pieces with simple black basics for a look that’s girlie yet edgy and go dotty for spots!

We’ve just heard the news that Ugly Betty has been cancelled after four brilliant seasons… Sob! The world of fashion TV will never be the same again.
Good to see that even this bombshell hasn’t derailed our favourite quirky, colourful character’s sense of style. America Ferrera wraps up to beat the January chill with a nod to nautical colours and detailing with her red shoes, blue tights and cute navy buttoned coat. We love the way she adds trademark kookiness by mixing it up with a statement handbag.
Ugly Betty is in its fourth season in America but has yet to air in the UK, we can’t wait for our fix of new Mode action but we’ll be sad to see Betty leave our screens for good. At least we still have a while to steal her style!
So, that’s Monday out of the way, phew. Hope you all had fab weekends!
It’s crazy how today’s just flown by. Mondays in the Oli office are always crazy (in a good way!) – researching the latest trends, digesting the latest celeb style news and of course, catching up on the weekend gossip! One of the trends that’s absolutely everywhere at the moment and that’s set to run right through spring is nude tones and neutral hues.
Don’t worry – we’re not suggesting you strip off in the name of fashion! Nude is the hottest shade to hit the catwalk in ages and is set to stick around for a goodwhile. From blush to beige, subtle pinks to creamy latte hues, the only colour to be seen in this season is a non-colour.
We’ve put together some of our favourite nude pieces to help you work this trend. It’s easy to wear and the multitude of nude shades you’re sure to find one to suit you. Try teaming loose nude knits with jeggings or opt for dresses in flowing fabrics and neutral colours. A quick way to update your look is to add a nude bag or some jewellery that fits the trend – a perfect quick fashion fix!
Pears and apples aren’t just two of your five a day anymore!
These are just two of the body shape categories that we’ve tailored our jeans range to. You might be an hourglass like Kelly Brook, or a rectangle like Cameron Diaz. How about a triangle, like Madonna? If all this is a bit confusing, look no further than our Denimoligy guide to denim to suit your shape. We show you how classic pear-shape Colleen Rooney works laid back style with boot-cut jeans and a tote whilst Cheryl Cole glams up with Jeggings and a Blazer.
A pair of jeans can make or break an outfit, and here at Oli we want to make sure you always look – and feel – your best. So if you’d love to go for skinny but you’re not sure if your shape will suit that look, or if you want to work out if bootcut or boyfriend is best for you, we make it easy to tailor your look to your shape with our guide.
